The Meherrin town of Unote was down stream from the Meherrin town of Maherinnec which was located on the North side of the Meherrin River.

The Town of Unote was said to be located on a hill guarded by a half moon palisade.

It should be noted that the Meherrin Town of Unote in modern Skarù·ręʔ orthography would be Unę́·ʔneh , the translation being Hill.

Meherrin were living in Unote at the time of the signing of the 1677/1680 Treaty of Middle Plantation.
