Museum

With great honor, we share that in 2025 the Meherrin Indian Tribe completed its Tribal Office, which also serves as a Cultural Center and Museum. This space represents an important step in preserving and sharing the history, culture, and traditions of the Kauwetsʔa·ka (People of the water).

As this living cultural space continues to grow, we look forward to expanding exhibits, educational programs, and opportunities to connect future generations with the heritage of the Meherrin people.

The museum and cultural center houses artifacts, historical materials, and cultural items that reflect the long presence of the Meherrin people in northeastern North Carolina, and southeastern Virginia. Exhibits highlight traditional lifeways, language revitalization, and the ongoing work of preserving Meherrin history for future generations.
